Star Editor Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 22, 2026
Applies to: the Star Editor app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The short version

Star Editor collects nothing. There is no account with us, no server of ours, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Your website lives on your device until you publish it to your own Cloudflare account. We never see your site, your photos, your name, or anything else.

The rest of this page says the same thing in more detail.

What we collect

Nothing. Star Editor has no sign-up, no login, and no server operated by us. The app sends us no information of any kind — not usage statistics, not crash reports, not device identifiers. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. The app's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected," and this policy is why.

Where your data lives

Everything you make in Star Editor — your sites, pages, words, and photos — is stored on your device. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it (your published site remains online in your own Cloudflare account until you remove it there). Backups you export (.starsite files) are ordinary files that you control.

Photos you add are processed on your device. Before a photo is included in a published site, its embedded metadata — including any GPS location and camera information — is removed automatically.

Publishing and Cloudflare

When you publish, the app uploads your site's files directly from your device to Cloudflare Pages using a Cloudflare account that you (or a parent or guardian) create and own. That transfer goes to Cloudflare, not to us. Your relationship with Cloudflare is governed by Cloudflare's own terms and privacy policy (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/). We have no access to your Cloudflare account.

The access key you paste into the app is stored in the device Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store. It is never written to logs or files, never included in exported backups, and never sent anywhere except to Cloudflare's API to publish your site.

Published sites are public

A published website is on the public internet: anyone with the address can see it. Think before publishing anything you would not want the world to read — this is the one place where privacy is in your hands, not the app's. Published sites made with Star Editor contain no analytics and no tracking.

Children

Star Editor is designed to be safe for young people to use: it collects no information from anyone, of any age. Creating the Cloudflare account used for publishing requires an adult, because Cloudflare's services are for people 18 and older. Adults should review what children publish, because published sites are public.

Parents should also know what the app does not do: Star Editor has no content review, no approval step, and no parental controls. Once a Cloudflare access key has been set up on a device, anyone using that device can publish to that site immediately. If a young person is using the app with your account's key, supervision is yours, not the app's.

Your choices

There is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is collected. To remove your data: delete your sites in the app (or delete the app), remove your published projects in your Cloudflare dashboard, and revoke the app's access key in your Cloudflare profile.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we have no way to notify you directly — check this page if it matters to you.
